Hello world!
November 7, 2007Ahhh! That fresh blog smell! Isn’t it great?
I’m excited to try out a new blog. For some time I’ve been feeling as though there was more that I wanted to do, but I didn’t want to mess with my original blog. I’ve decided that trying to keep two blogs was the best idea. For now. This is my new junk drawer, so to speak. All the mundane and silly thoughts I want to share, my rants and opinions I wish to push on unsuspecting peoples, all the ramblings and babblings that should let you all know exactly how dense I really am, will all go here. Although I always aim to please, if there is anything you don’t like, you know how to leave.
The theme very well may change from time to time. I chose this one to start with as we had our first skiff of snow for the season this morning. A wintery theme seemed very appropriate! More changes will happen here as I get settled in, furniture moved around and such. Tweaking.
As a final note, today is an anniversary of sorts, and it seems all the more fitting to be starting a new blog on this day. One year ago today I was told that the baby I was pregnant with has a rare and severe heart condition and was extremely unlikely to survive. The few babies with his particular diagnosis that had survived were nowhere close to him in severity. Today, my little miracle worker is 8 months old, small, but rapidly catching up on all his developmental milestones. He is the youngest of five children, and considered a medical first by his cardiologist. Life is crazy with so many kids, baby especially, but good. Very good. I’ll do my best to maintain both my blogs, but be patient if I’m absent from time to time. Meanwhile, would you all like to see my little Superbaby?

Aw, he looks great! Such a cutie, could eat him up with a spoon.
I love that you started a new blog – cool. Love the wintry theme too.
Annie
Hello Annie! Yes, we all love our cutie to bits.
I just needed more things to do, as if my days weren’t full enough!
Jennifer
Jennifer,
first things first: congrats on your new blog, it looks awesome and I have to admit I hope to see more of your writings now (yes, I know, I am bad and I do understand that you have a very busy life).
second, I was thinking about you the other day.
We had our United Way campaign launch and one of our colleagues shared her personal story which I never even knew (big company).
She too had a baby that was diagnosed with a severe heart disorder and once born was told that she had to monitor her closely for heart failures. As you well know that causes a lot of stress and she missed a lot of work. My few lines don’t do her story justice at all. Anyway, she had us all in tears and was very thankful for the help that United Way provided to her with extra home nursing support.
Her daughter had to have several major heart surgeries as a baby. Today her daughter is 12 years old and the mother still has her hands full. Not so much medically, but because her daughter is already acting like a teenager.
Your little guy looks too cute to be a difficult teenager some day.
Have a wonderful start of winter Winterland – I mean WorthFULL writing’.
Hello Spaz, it’s great to see you here. I sure do hope to find the time to do more writing, but it may be rather patchy for awhile!
I think one of the hardest things with Sean’s journey is how hard it is to fully put into words what it really is like caring for an infant with heart problems. There are so many things that you take for granted with most children, and all the rules change once they are “sick”. Before we left the hospital, we too had to learn the signs and symptoms of heart failure, CPR, how to give injections, how to mix medications, and on and on. Our two oldest kids took much of the training with us because we know that there will be times when they will be playing with Sean and we never know what could happen. It was scary stuff for them to contemplate! For now though, Sean is doing great and we all couldn’t be happier.
I do think Sean will be a very difficult teen. He is by far the most determined little baby I have ever seen. So far in his short life, he has made a point of proving everyone wrong, no matter what the prediction. Somehow, I can’t see that changing, but I have many years to find my way around him.
Take care of yourself!
Jennifer
Hello Jennifer! It’s wonderful to see baby Sean and your new place is fantastic.
Hello Lolly! How great to see you here! I’m glad you like my new spot in the blogosphere, I’m going to try hard to keep it interesting. As for Sean, yeah, we think he is sure something else as well!
